Kalyan-Shilphata Road Closed for 5 Days from February 5-10 for Nilaje Railway Flyover Construction
The Kalyan-Shilphata Road in Thane district, Maharashtra, will be closed for vehicular traffic from February 5 to 10, 2025, due to ongoing construction work on the Nilaje Railway flyover. This temporary closure is expected to cause significant traffic congestion in the areas of Kalyan, Dombivli, and Ambernath. In response, authorities have announced alternate routes to minimize disruption and ensure smoother traffic flow.
The reconstruction work on the Nilaje Railway flyover, located near Palava Junction on Kalyan-Shilphata Road, will commence at midnight on February 5 and continue until midnight on February 10. All vehicles traveling towards Palava Junction on Shilphata Road will be restricted during this period.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Shirsat, the railway administration is working on the Delhi-JNPT dedicated high-speed rail freight corridor. This railway line passes beneath the Nilaje Railway flyover near Palava Junction, adjacent to Xperia Mall in Shilphata. Given the complexity of the work, the authorities have decided to halt all vehicular movement during this period to ensure safety and efficiency.
To mitigate traffic issues, the Thane City Traffic Control Department has provided alternative travel routes:
For commuters from Kalyan: Use the Mothagaon-Mankoli Flyover to reach your destination.
For those traveling to Navi Mumbai or Panvel via Shilphata: Take a left turn at Katai Naka and proceed via Taloja Road through the Badlapur Pipeline.
For vehicles from Badlapur, Ambernath, and Karjat: Avoid Katai Naka and instead take a diversion at Khoni village, then continue towards Panvel and Navi Mumbai via Taloja Concrete Road.
For light and medium vehicles: Utilize the alternate route from Katai Gaon Kaman towards Lodha Palava, then reconnect with the main road at Palava Junction.
For drivers from Badlapur, Ambernath, and Karjat: Do not head towards Katai Naka. Instead, turn at Khoni Gaon and proceed towards Panvel and Navi Mumbai via Taloja Concrete Road.
Heavy and bulky vehicles are strictly prohibited from using Kalyan-Shilphata Road during the closure period. Authorities urge all commuters to follow the designated alternative routes and adhere to the instructions issued by the Thane City Traffic Control Department to ensure a hassle-free commute.
Residents and daily travelers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider using public transport options where feasible. The authorities assure that the construction work will enhance connectivity and infrastructure in the long run, benefiting the region’s commuters and businesses alike.
